He mistakes the BABY LIBERTARIA for his long lost daughter
LUCINDE, and begins to serenade her. It is not known if he
was the one who placed the baby there or if he has just
found her in one of his favorite haunts.

SIMEON (SIMEON'S SONG)
Can I touch your silken face again?
Sweet innocent one? (Handing her a
doll) A love you have forgotten.
Your tiny hand reaches mine. We
travel in time, and find hope again.

The MILITARY POLICE OFFICERS on the beat also hear the baby
and investigate the abandoned building.

SIMEON
No, innocent one. It is not Tuesday
morning. That forgotten mourning.

CUTAWAYS: BETWEEN THE SINGING SIMEON, THE BABY LIBERTARIA
CRYING, AND THE AGITATED MILITARY POLICE OFFICERS.

The youngest of the MILITARY POLICE OFFICERS pulls out an
impressive weapon that seems to be a combination of a tazer,
a semiautomatic, and something from Star Trek. Getting more
agitated, the gun goes off in the rookie's hands.

MEDIUM CLOSE UP: WEAPON IN ROOKIE'S HAND, SLIGHTLY SHAKING.
CLOSE UP:EYES OF ROOKIE, TILT DOWN TO MOUTH SHOUTING, NO
